BIO
Kai Wen has bathed in arsenic-contaminated water, travelled to the arctic's edge, and slept in Asia's largest slum, all in the name of telling stories. Through his photographs and videos, he hopes to better understand the human condition, and find himself in the process.
Kai Wen has a strong interest in photojournalism as he has worked with the Singapore Press Holdings to produce works in Lianhe Zaobao, The Straits Times, and Omy.sg. He has also produced thought-provoking photographs for Lien Aid, a local NGO, and showcased them in an exhibition at Vivo City in 2008. His documentary, "One Room Flat", won numerous awards at film festivals, including three Silver Medals at the Crowbar Awards 2009.
His education at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI) has seen him leading a team of twenty student photojournalists as Photo Editor of The Nanyang Chronicle, and being sent to Istanbul as a travel writer. His personal multimedia project, The Disappearing Hills, investigated the aftermath of flooding in Cameron Highlands caused by illegal farming.
